Events Around Kendray

Christmas Carol Service

The annual Christmas Carol Service was held in St Andrews Church at 2pm on, Thursday 10th December.

The event went very well with some 60 children in total from the Primary schools at KENDRAY and HUNNINGLEY LANE taking part in hanging the decorations that they had made at school on the "living" Christmas Tree in Central Park and singing carols in St. Andrews Church where Rev. Peter Jackson gave a Christmas address to all dressed as a "christmas present" reminding us all of the very first present being the gift of the birth of Jesus.

The children all received a chocolate bar by way of a thank you from the Kendray Events Group who organised the event.

Crocus Planting Day

Friends of Central Park organised a crocus planting day for 12th November 2009.

23 children from Kendray Primary school were involved by way of helping to plant the bulbs.  Funding was obtained by Friends of Central Park from Barnsley Association of Community Partnerships.

The children were assisted by volunteers from the Friends of Central Park and Neighourhood Pride in planting the 2000 bulbs and in appreciation for their help were presented with a certificate afterwards.

Community Funday 2009

Kendray community funday took place on Saturday 6th June 2009.  Fun was had by all as you can see from the photo's below, and thats despite the weather, which was very un-summer like.  No surprise there with the British summer!

It wasn't very warm, it was breazy and it rained a little but it didn't put anyone off.  Adults and children turned out in their hundreds to the annual event to view stalls, go on rides, bouncy castles, tombola's and much more.  There was a marquee with food and drinks to keep the masses fueled up.  Keeping the show going was an entertainment van with DJ's playing music and introducing the Fun Day's performers.

Roll on 2010's event, but with better weather!!
