Safer Neighbourhood Team Barnsley's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is a partnership between the South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC), with the aim of providing specific solutions to areas that suffer from anti social behaviour. The SNT also deal with low level crime. They were formerly known as Local Partnership Teams (LPT) Allotments The allotments on Swanee Road have recently been redeveloped into a flagship site managed by BMBC's Neighbourhood Services. There are now 13 plots of varying sizes, water is on the site and attractive knee high fencing has been installed. The area had become very run down, the site was not secure from vandals and drug users. For these reasons it was crying out to be brought back up to a good standard. Regional Housing In February 2003, the Deputy Prime Minister launched "Sustainable Communities: building for the future" (click here). The document set out an action programme to tackle the imbalance between housing supply and demand, to improve the condition of housing stock and the quality of life for residents.
